Court declares raid on Mohsin Baig’s house illegal

The Sessions Court of Islamabad has declared the raid on the house of senior journalist Mohsin Baig illegal, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

The court has stated it is evident of the first information reports (FIRs) registered by the police and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that the raid was unlawful. “Those who raided the house of the journalist were not authorised to do so,” the court said. “Instead of filing cases against the raiders, the police booked the journalist,” it added.

The court also asked the Islamabad inspector general of police (IGP) to take action against the station house officer (SHO) concerned.

Anti-terrorism court sends Mohsin Baig three-day physical remand

Earlier, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) has granted three-day physical remand of Mohsin Jamil Baig, hours after he was arrested over resisting an FIA raid following his obscene remarks against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The judge of the ATC while accepting the police's plea for a physical remand granted three days for investigation despite opposition from Baig's counsel. The court also directed the police to carry out the medical tests of Mohsin Baig.
