Court extends bail of Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala until March 6 in gambling promotion case

A sessions court in Lahore has extended the interim bail of Rajab Butt and Nadeem Nani Wala until March 6 in the gambling app promotion case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Rajab and Nadeem appeared before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Mansoor Ahmed Qureshi, who earlier sought the investigation record from the Federal Investigation Agency.

As the court was informed that the investigation was yet to be completed, it directed the FIA to ensure that the required record is presented at the next hearing.

A Karachi court extended the interim bail of Rajab Butt until March 30 in a blasphemy case last week.

During the proceedings, the complainant’s counsel objected to the accused’s appearance, stating that court time was 8:30 am, but the accused arrived at 9:30 am.

He urged the court to cancel the interim bail, adding that the prosecution was fully prepared to present evidence, but the defence counsel failed to appear.

In response, Rajab Butt’s legal team informed the court that his counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, was on official leave.

The court expressed displeasure over the absence, noting that the defence counsel had failed to appear during previous proceedings.

The judge directed that a formal application be submitted in this regard.

The defence subsequently requested an adjournment of the hearing, which the court approved.

Rajab Butt, in particular, has remained in the spotlight due to a series of legal controversies.

Most recently, he made headlines after allegedly being attacked by a group of lawyers at the Karachi City Courts.

The incident reportedly stemmed from allegations that Butt had made derogatory remarks about the legal fraternity.

An FIR was later registered on the complaint of Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq, describing the incident as a “brutal, unlawful and premeditated physical assault.”
