Pak ID App launched: Vehicle ownership transfers now completed within 48 hours

The Punjab government has launched the Pak ID mobile application, allowing vehicle ownership transfers to be completed within 48 hours, significantly streamlining registration, purchase, and transfer processes.

The initiative was formally inaugurated by the Director General of the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Punjab, from his office on Monday. It aims to make vehicle-related services faster, more transparent, and convenient for owners across the province.

Under the new system, vehicle owners no longer need to visit excise offices for biometric verification.

Citizens in Pakistan and abroad can now complete identity verification from home.

Once verification and online payment of applicable fees are completed, the ownership transfer process will be finalized within 48 hours.

Officials said the digital platform will not only save time for millions of vehicle owners but also reduce opportunities for corruption, ensuring a transparent and accountable process.

The DG Excise noted that the initiative would significantly streamline ownership changes for approximately 26 million registered vehicles in Punjab, reducing delays and enhancing efficiency in public service delivery.
