Rashid Khan becomes first bowler to claim 700 T20 wickets

Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has become the first bowler in history to take 700 wickets in T20 cricket, achieving the landmark during a T20 World Cup match against the United Arab Emirates, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

Rashid reached the milestone after claiming a wicket in the match, further cementing his legacy as one of the most successful bowlers in the shortest format of the game.

In overall T20 cricket, West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo ranks second with 631 wickets.

Rashid had already surpassed Bravo’s tally in February 2025.

Former West Indies spinner Sunil Narine occupies third place with 613 wickets.

Rashid Khan also holds the record for the most wickets in T20 Internationals (T20Is), with 191 scalps to his name.

New Zealand pacer Tim Southee stands second with 164 wickets, while fellow Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi is third with 162 wickets.
