Sindh makes CM’s prior approval mandatory for appointment of Pro Vice Chancellors

The Sindh government has issued fresh directives regulating the appointment of Pro Vice Chancellors and Acting Pro Vice Chancellors in public sector universities across the province, making prior approval from the Chief Minister mandatory for all such appointments, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

According to an official notification issued by the Universities and Boards Department, any appointment or assignment of additional charge without the Chief Minister’s prior consent will be deemed illegal.

All vice chancellors have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the relevant laws and statutory procedures.

Under the revised framework, universities are required to constitute a panel comprising three senior professors and forward the recommendations to the Chief Minister for approval before making any appointment.

Authorities have warned that any appointment made in violation of the prescribed rules may be declared void.

The notification further cautioned that failure to implement the directives in letter and spirit could result in disciplinary action against the concerned officials.
