Karachi court acts in online shopping fraud case
A consumer court in Karachi on Saturday summoned witnesses in a case of online shopping fraud after a woman, who had approached a garments company to purchase clothes, was given torn clothes instead, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to reports, despite efforts by the garments company, Libas, to make a patch-up with the woman, Advocate Saima Bibi, the latter refused to take back her petition, resulting in the issuance of summons by Javed Korejo, Judicial Magistrate at Consumer Protection Court East, to the company.
Advocate Saima Bibi has alleged that she was offered Rs10,000 by the company for not pursuing the case further.
She regretted that she was made to wait for the clothes for one year, and finally when clothes were delivered to her they were not new but torn ones.
“I had placed an order for new clothes to participate in a function which was to be organised in connection with Baloch cultural day, but due to the online fraud, I could not attend the event,” the consumer deplored.
