Due to loneliness of many years, the only widowed rhinoceros has become sick, reported 24News HD TV Channel on Sunday.

The channel report said that the lonely rhinoceros in Lahore Zoo is 23 years old and has been lonely for many years.

According to the zoo administration, medical treatment of the rhinoceros has been started but he has reduced his food intake.

This is an African rhinoceros that was brought to Pakistan in 2006 but his partner female rhino died in 2014.

Generally, rhinoceros is a social animal and becomes mentally sick and dies early of his or her average age if partner passes away.

Pertinent to mention here that the Lahore Zoo administration has already released funds worth Rs11 million to purchase some animals like elephants, chimpanzees, rhinos, and hippos in 2018.
