Police in Gujrat on Sunday reunited the newborn with his mother after arresting the woman, who had kidnapped him from the city’s Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) yesterday (Saturday, January 15, 2022), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Dr Abid Ghauri, the medical superintendent at ABSTH, said a baby boy, who was born to Nasreen Bibi, had disappeared from the ward only a few hours after his birth.

He said a team of the city police traced and arrested Shahida, a resident of Chodowal village, with the help of footage of the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) installed in the hospital within a couple of hours of the incident.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of the incident, which 24News has managed to obtain, has laid bare the hospital administration’s inadequate security measures.

It can be clearly seen in the footage that a woman is exiting from the hospital with the baby in her arms without anybody taking notice of her act.
