Punjab University (PU) employees have observed a strike on Monday after a university worker was physically assaulted and tortured by members of students body at the campus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

All employees of Punjab University, including union officials and members of the faculty, protested outside the examination branch.

The employees demonstrated inside university premises against the students organization, the PU administration and their hooliganism by carrying placards inscribed with slogans against them.

They said that violence against employees by students has become a norm. The university administration, however, did not take any action against the concerned students even after three days of the violent incident.

The protesters also threatened severe consequences if administrative action was not taken against the goons and their malpractices at the campus. They also hinted at possible call for the closure of all campuses of Punjab University.
