BTS announces album ARIRANG after four-year wait
South Korean boy band BTS has officially confirmed when their long-awaited return will arrive, announcing the release date of their first group album in nearly four years and sending fans worldwide into celebration mode.
The K-pop superstars revealed that their new album will be released on March 20, marking their first full project since completing their mandatory military service. The band’s previous release was the anthology album Proof, which dropped in June 2022 just before the members paused group activities to fulfill their duties in the Republic of Korea Armed Forces.
The news was shared in a deeply personal way. The seven members, RM, 31, Jin, 33, Suga, 32, J-Hope, 31, Jimin, 30, V, 30, and Jung Kook, 28, sent handwritten letters to select members of their official fan club, BTS ARMY.
Included with the messages was a membership card confirming the March 20 release date. South Korean media outlets later independently verified the announcement, according to Variety.
BTS had previously hinted that new music was on the horizon during a group livestream in July 2025, which marked their first live appearance together in nearly three years. At the time, they confirmed that work on a new album was beginning but stopped short of revealing when it would be released.

During that livestream, the group emphasized how meaningful the project would be, saying, “Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started.”
They also confirmed that a world tour will follow the album’s release, raising expectations that their long absence from the global stage is finally coming to an end.
BTS debuted in 2013 and gradually built a devoted fanbase within the K-pop scene before breaking into mainstream global stardom in 2017 with hits like "MIC DROP" and "DNA." Over the years that followed, they scored six songs at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing their status as one of the most successful K-pop acts of all time.
During the group hiatus, each member focused on solo projects, with all seven releasing at least one solo album between 2022 and 2025. With military service now completed and a confirmed album date in place, fans believe BTS is preparing for one of the most significant comebacks in pop music history.
