Motorway M-11 closed for traffic due to heavy fog

The Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M-11) has been closed for traffic due to dense fog, the Motorway Police Central Region announced on Friday, citing safety concerns for road users.

According to Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Motorway Police Central Region, the temporary closure has been implemented to protect the lives and property of the public, as reduced visibility during fog significantly increases the risk of serious accidents. He warned that lane violations in foggy conditions can prove extremely dangerous.

The Motorway Police advised motorists to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of poor visibility. Drivers have been urged to prefer travelling during daytime hours within urban areas, noting that safer travel times during fog are generally between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The spokesperson further emphasized the use of fog lights and cautioned drivers against speeding. Motorists were advised to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to minimize the risk of collisions.

In case of emergencies or for travel guidance, road users have been instructed to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130. Authorities said the motorway will be reopened once weather conditions improve and visibility is restored.
