Educators, students demand action against perpetrators of May 9 violence

Delegations of teachers, students and eminent journalists visited Jinnah House in Lahore on Saturday and expressed their shock over the incidents of violence of May 9, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.  

Speaking on the occasion, the students demanded strict punishment for those involved in these incidents since letting them go off the hook would set a wrong precedent for the future generations.

They said they were saddened to see Quaid’s home in such a bad state.

They were of the view that by ransacking the Jinnah House, the miscreants had damaged a national heritage.

The students said admitted there were political issues, but this did not give a license to the workers of any party to go berserk and behave in such an irresponsible manner.

The teachers opined it was high time that people belonging to different sects and ethnic backgrounds became one and made each other understand how the country could be developed.  

On the other hand, Murtaza Solangi, an eminent journalist, who also visited the Jinnah House, said these incidents were all pre-planned. “It appears that these people had been trained before they launched an attack on government and military installations,” he opined.
