Mayor Murtaza lays foundation stone of IT park in Karachi

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has laid the foundation stone for a new Information Technology (IT) Park in Shadman Town, located in the city's Central District, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

The project, which falls under the KLiC (Karachi Local Infrastructure and Community Development) initiative, aims to boost digital infrastructure and provide recreational and training facilities for youth.

According to the mayor, the IT park will be completed within four months, while the entire redevelopment project, including the park's upgradation and IT centre restoration, is expected to be finalised within six months.

“This modern facility will cater to both recreation and skill development needs of the area’s residents,” the mayor said during the ceremony.

Key project details:

Total Estimated Cost: Rs. 145.794 million.
IT Center Structure: 180 sq. meters, double-storey building
Total Renovation Area: 4,400 sq. meters.
Features: Children's play area, swings, office space, store room, toilets, and kitchen.
Landscaping: 1,250 sq. meters of grass, 103 trees, and 1,145 ground covers planted.
Utilities: Water and electricity infrastructure complete; drainage system near completion.

The project is part of the city's broader efforts to develop inclusive urban spaces while promoting IT literacy and training among youth.
