FCC declares appointment of guardians in cases involving juveniles mandatory 

Pronouncing a verdict to protect the rights of juveniles in the country, the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) on Thursday declared the appointment of a guardian in cases involving underage boys and girls mandatory and hence declared the decision given by the Lahore High Court (LHC) in the case null and void, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court ruled that only that person would be appointed as a guardian, who would have no personal interests with respect to the adolescent. 

It said that any settlement in cases involving juveniles, elderly people and veiled women would be made subject to court’s approval.

It stated that from now onwards, an underage party would be determined right at the outset of the case, and that the court would not give any decision detrimental to the rights of that party. 

The court further said that undue haste would not be shown in cases involving minors’ properties.

The FCC ordered that copies of its today’s verdict be sent to civil and revenue courts.

It ordered the trial court to go ahead with the trial.
