Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to give it access to the accounts of both Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in connection with the scrutiny of alleged foreign funding of both the parties, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a petition submitted to the ECP, PTI leader Farrukh Habib said his party wanted a charter accountant to help in the scrutiny of these parties’ accounts. “We want scrutiny of the accounts the way Akbar S. Babar did the scrutiny of our accounts,” Habib’s petition reads.
Later, talking to the media, the PTI leader held PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz responsible for the uproar witnessed in the National Assembly on Tuesday. “Maryam had given instructions to party leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for that,” he alleged.
