Punjab govt tasks traffic police with Rs3.89b challans

In an apparent attempt to bridge the fiscal deficit, the Punjab government has assigned the traffic police a target of Rs3.90 billion challans throughout the province in the next financial year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The task exceeded last year’s target of challans by Rs300 million.
During the current fiscal year, the Punjab police had carried out challans worth Rs2.74 billion.
The provincial government will also give a share of the Rs3.90 billion fines to the traffic police.
