Notorious dacoit killed, two escaped during police encounter in Okara

A most-wanted dacoit was dead and his two colleagues escaped during a police encounter in Okara, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Sources reported that the police encounter occurred in the Pir Di Hatti area of Okara. The police intercepted the dacoits who were riding a motorcycle and signaled them to stop after which they started firing on the police.

During heavy exchange of firing, one dacoit was killed and his two colleagues fled away from the scene.

According to Crime Control Department (CCD) sources, in a dacoity attempt in Mamukanjan, the dacoit injured three children, and later, one child died.

The dead dacoit was also involved in sixteen criminal cases, including murder and attempted murder.

Police sources said that the dacoits also started firing straight on the police party after taking shelter in the kharif crop and escaped from the scene, leaving behind their motorcycle. 

DPO Mehar Youaf said that the police cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation to apprehend the dacoits.
