Wafa’s smoking scene: Another controversial turn in Mann Mast Malang

The drama Mann Mast Malang starring Danish Taimoor and Sahar Hashmi continues to receive criticism for its controversial scenes. 

Geo TV aired its episode 49, which involved a scene where the actress Hiba Ali Khan, by the character name of Wafa, was seen smoking. This particular scene attracted negative attention and criticism.

Netizens were shocked to see the portrayal of a woman smoking on national television, as it is typically frowned upon especially when depicted by a woman.

Wafa’s distress prompts her to light a cigarette, which triggers the backlash. 

A person commented, “Cigarette in Wafa’s hand!”

Another person showed the hate, saying “By showing smoking in dramas, you are promoting something wrong. And now you are also influencing women towards it. Just writing ‘Smoking Kills’ does not fulfill your responsibility. You are promoting wrong things in Pakistani dramas. You should be promoting content related to Islam instead.”

The drama serial Mann Mast Malang is currently trending in Pakistan, despite facing heavy criticism for its portrayal of abusive relationships and bold content. 

The play has sparked controversy due to its depiction of toxic masculinity, with many critics accusing Taimoor of glorifying violence and abuse in the name of romance.
