CTD kills three suspected terrorists in Kohat intelligence-based operation

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in Kohat, during which three terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire, while their accomplices managed to escape, officials said on Tuesday.

According to a statement, the operation was launched on credible intelligence about the presence of militants planning a sabotage activity in the Shakardara Road area. The suspects, allegedly linked to Fitna-al-Khawarij, had set up a checkpoint to target the law enforcement personnel.

Upon receiving the information, CTD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams immediately moved to the location. As the personnel reached the site, the suspected terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. The CTD team responded with a professional tactical operation, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire in which three terrorists were killed on the spot.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the scene, including three Kalashnikov rifles, nine magazines and several rounds of ammunition.

Officials said the identification process of the slain terrorists is currently underway, while a search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the fleeing accomplices.

The operation was carried out in line with the policy of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and under the special instructions of Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, who directed intensified intelligence-based operations across the province to restore law and order.

Additional IG CTD Jawad Qamar praised the personnel involved in the operation, saying that eliminating terrorism remains the top priority of the department.

He commended the bravery and professionalism of the CTD personnel, stating that the force remains fully committed to ensuring lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will not allow any terrorist to escape justice. He added that intelligence-based operations will continue across the province until terrorism is completely eradicated.

Officials reiterated that such operations are part of an ongoing strategy to counter militant threats and maintain stability in sensitive regions of the province.
