ECC approves funds for NADRA, passports, security projects

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Tuesday approved several financial proposals, including funds for NADRA projects, passport services, security initiatives and fertiliser production, during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the ECC approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs2.19 billion for a National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) project.

The committee also approved Rs5 billion to ensure the printing of passport booklets and continuity of passport-related services across the country.

In another decision, the ECC allocated Rs2.12 billion for three development projects of the Ministry of Interior.

The committee further approved funding for the Model Jail and National Police Hospital projects in Islamabad.

The ECC also sanctioned more than Rs240 million for the repair and maintenance of helicopters operated by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).

To ensure uninterrupted fertiliser production and stability in the agricultural sector, the committee decided to continue gas supplies to urea manufacturing plants.

According to the Ministry of Finance, gas supply to Fatima Fertiliser and Agri Tech plants will continue until June 30, 2026, to help maintain adequate fertiliser availability and prevent disruptions in the urea market.

The government said the decision was aimed at ensuring a stable supply of fertiliser for farmers and supporting agricultural productivity.

The ECC also emphasised the need to prevent disruptions to passport services and to ensure the timely payment of outstanding obligations related to passport production and issuance.

The approved measures are intended to support public service delivery, strengthen security-related infrastructure and maintain the availability of key agricultural inputs, according to the Ministry of Finance.
