Port Qasim rises to 56th in global CPPI ranking

Port Qasim Authority has improved its position to 56th place in the global Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), reflecting strong operational and administrative gains, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

According to the latest performance report, the port’s management efficiency score has increased to 82.2, supported by major improvements in digital systems and operational processes.

Officials said continuous dredging is being carried out in the 49-kilometre-long challenging navigation channel to ensure smooth maritime traffic and safe vessel movement.

Port Qasim now handles more than 70 percent of Pakistan’s dredging activities.

The Container Port Performance Index score has also shown remarkable growth, rising from 43.0 to 60.1 within a year, placing the port among the improving performers across more than 400 global ports.

The report further stated that the port is currently managing the monitoring and handling of over 371 vessels efficiently, while ensuring an uninterrupted supply of LNG and fuel even during monsoon conditions.

Authorities have also implemented reforms aimed at reducing berthing delays and improving overall operational workflow.

Officials expressed confidence that ongoing modernization efforts and digital upgrades are part of a long-term plan to position Port Qasim among the world’s top 30 ports in the future.
