Former Sindh chief minister Mumtaz Bhutto was caught stealing electricity for his six tubewells in Khairpur district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) Task Force head Aqeel Junejo in an operation severed the power supply to the six tubewells of Mumtaz Bhutto, the TV channel reported.
Sepco chief Chaudhry Saleem said the raid against the electricity theft will also certainly lessen the loadshedding in the area.
Aqeel Junejo said the electricity was being stolen directly from 150MW, 100MW and 24MW transformers without having the installation of any meter in KT Mumtaz Bhutto, village Wada Itner, Arbab Kulhero and Village Jo Bhatto.
He further added, “There is no electricity connection so they cannot impose a fine. We have cut off all the electricity wires and taken possession of the material.”
Mumtaz Bhutto has served as 8th Governor of Sindh and later the 13th Chief Minister of Sindh. He is also the first cousin of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
