The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has clarified that the anti-graft watchdog has no intention or any reason to arrest Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Moonis Elahi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The NAB in a statement issued on Wednesday termed all rumors as baseless.

“Arresting Moonis Elahi is not even a question,” the watchdog said in an explanatory statement.

“There is no pending inquiry against Moonis,” the NAB statement reads.

It is pertinent to note that the explanation from the NAB came after Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi during an interview to a private television said ruefully that his party was being hounded by the NAB.

Elahi said that when Moonis Elahi delivered his speech, “we started receiving threats from NAB”.

Pervez Elahi commented, “The government is under threat from its own people.”

Meanwhile, the NAB Executive Board met Wednesday and approved 11 new inquiries and two other investigations in the cases presented before the board.

The NAB spokesperson said that the executive board approved an investigation against former Sindh inspector general Ghulam Haider Jamali.
