The Supreme Court has rejected petitions challenging decision of the Balochistan High Court in a case of appointments in Levies Force, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial heard the case on Wednesday. The bench dismissed appeals filed against the decision of the high court.
During the hearing, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah asked which authority was supposed to make appointments in the Levies.
“How it could be possible that in-service employees of the revenue department could be appointed in the Levies,” Justice Shah wondered.
Additional Advocate General Balochistan told the court that appointments of tehsildars were made according to the law.
Justice Ayesha Malik observed that rules were not followed while making appointments.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Bandial remarked that Balochistan government made these appointments in Levies force in violation of law.
Saying this, the chief justice dismissed all appeals against the BHC judgement.
The Levies employees had challenged tehsildars’ appointments in the force in Balochistan High Court. The BHC in its verdict had declared the tehsildars’ appointments null and void.
Then the Balochistan government challenged the BHC decision in the Supreme Court.
