Meghan Markle’s ‘As Ever’ faces criticism for being outdated

Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand As Ever is under scrutiny, with industry experts pointing out a fundamental flaw in its concept.

Dianne Nelmes, former head of ITV Daytime and the creator of This Morning, shared her candid thoughts on the brand in an interview with MailOnline.

“With Love has a major flaw,” Nelmes stated, referring to the show’s lifestyle-focused approach. “The concept is outdated.”

She explained that modern audiences, especially young women, now turn to platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and social media for lifestyle advice and celebrity trends.

Nelmes also questioned the relatability of As Ever, suggesting that Meghan is “so far removed from the reality of the women viewers her show is targeting that I wonder what creative thinking went into the early development.”

Since its debut, the show has faced mixed reviews, with critics dissecting everything from flower-infused ice cubes to one-pot pasta recipes. While As Ever briefly made it into Netflix’s Top 10, its ranking quickly dropped, with many attributing its viewership to “hate-watchers.”

Even The Times took a jab at the show, calling it “a woman with no actual job tries to turn manic, ultimately useless delightfulness into an actual job.”

Despite the criticism, Netflix has greenlit As Ever for a second season, leaving many to wonder whether Markle’s brand will evolve or continue to face backlash.
