Alarmed at terror attacks, Islamabad, Punjab IGPs order putting security on highest alert 

In view of the country’s present law and order situation, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), both Islamabad and Punjab Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and Dr. Usman Anwar, respectively on Sunday ordered putting security on the highest alert, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In his orders to the Islamabad Police, the IGP said that security at markets and shopping centers be further tightened as more and more people were thronging to these places ahead of Eidul Fitr.  

He further ordered the police personnel to make patrolling effective and give immediate response to the calls received on 15. "Please stay in contact with each other through the exchange of information," he said.

He ordered the senior officials to keep an eye on their subordinates and assign duties to them. 

Apart from that, IGP Rizvi directed the surveillance of markets, places of worship and government buildings in the federal capital with the help of Safe City cameras. 

On the other hand, the Punjab Police spokesman said that 459 search, sweep and combing operations were conducted in the province during the last 24 hours in which more than 12,600 people were checked while over 500 were questioned. “As many as 68 persons were taken into custody during these operations,” he said, adding, “Those arrested were proclaimed offenders and hardened criminals.”

“A large number of unlicensed weapons, including rifles, pistols and bullets was recovered from them,” the spokesman elaborated.
