Two guards killed, Sindh MPA Jam Mehtab escapes life bid

Unknown assailants opened fire at the vehicle of Sindh Assembly MPA Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar and killed his two security guards, however PPP MPA remained safe, reported the 24NewsHD TV Channel on Sunday.

According to police, unknown armed men targeted MPA Mehtab Hussain's vehicle and killed his two security guards when was coming back home after visiting his agricultural land in Dehrki area of Sindh. MPA remained safe in the attack. Earlier MPA Jam Mehtab had claimed that he had been kidnapped.   

According to sources, MPA Jam Mehtab informed his close associates via a mobile call, stating, "Our vehicles have come under fire in Khenjo, and his guards have got injured in the attack."

Sources claim the attack is linked to a tribal feud between the Shar and Seelro tribes in Sindh, with MPA Jam Mehtab allegedly having close ties to the Seelro tribe.

Yesterday, a man of the Seelro tribe was killed, and the father of the victim registered a police case against the former MPA and leader of the PPP from Ubauro town, Sheharyar Shar, and his son. Reportedly, the victim Seelro family was being supported by MPA Jam Mehtab Dahar.

Police have registered an FIR against former MPA and leader of PPP from Ubauro town, Sheharyar Shar, and his son Jahangir Shar for killing Waheed Seelro in the jurisdiction of Machko Police Station in Punjab, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

In the FIR, two unknown accused were named while seven other persons were nominated.

According to the FIR, the father of the victim accused ex-MPA Shehryar Shar and his son, and other persons shot his son.

Meanwhile, ex-MPA Shehryar Shar refuted the claim that he has arranged the attack against PPP MPA. THe former MPA claimed that he too suffered such attacks but he never named Mehar Mehtab.  He said PPP MPA was afraid of his popularity. 

Following the attack, police launched an emergency response. DSP Daharki confirmed that additional forces from Ubauro, Daharki, and Khenjo have been dispatched to the site. 

Sindh police reached the site and started search operation. According to the report, the incident took place in the Khenjo area near Daharki, where the MPA was allegedly taken hostage by his rival tribe.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and has sought report from IG Police Sindh.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Zardari have condemned attack on PPP MPA.
