Will Smith announces new album after nearly two decades

Hollywood star Will Smith has officially announced the release of his long-awaited album, Based On A True Story, set to drop on March 28.

Taking to Instagram, the Men in Black actor shared the album cover and tracklist, writing, “It’s OFFICIAL!! My new album Based On A True Story drops March 28. TWO WEEKS!! Hit that presave. Been working on this project for a minute and I’m itchin’ to get it out to y’all.”

This marks Smith’s return to music after nearly 20 years, a moment that has thrilled fans eagerly awaiting his comeback.

In a separate revelation, the Oscar-winning actor recalled a conversation with music legend Prince just hours before his passing. Speaking on the Broken Record podcast, Smith shared that Prince had pitched an idea for an entertainment company involving him and JAY-Z. “He called and said that me, him, and JAY-Z should start an entertainment company. He had already spoken to Jay and was excited about it,” Smith recalled. Tragically, by the next morning, Prince had passed away.

With his album on the horizon, Smith is set to make a major impact in the music world once again.
