IHC orders admin not to harass students over M-Tag installation

Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the district administration to provide relief to students and not to harass them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Sarfraz Dogar passed these remarks while hearing a case related to installing M-Tag on motorcycles.

The Chief Justice ordered the state lawyer to submit his reply by the next date of hearing.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice said that “when we were students, we were availing concessions”. He asked why we are installing M-Tag on motorcycles.

State lawyer Abdul Rehman said that after the Kutchery blast, there were security reasons. He further argued that 12 people lost their lives and 36 became seriously injured.

He said that the motorcycle was used in the blast. The attacker reached the kutcheri through Bikya.

After that, the government decided to take measures to provide foolproof security to the people.

The Chief Justice agreed that there may be some hurdles in ensuring security for the citizens.  He said that the district government should provide them relief instead of harassing them.

Later, the hearing of the case was adjourned till April 6, 2026.
