Leopard spotted again at Islamic University in Islamabad

A leopard has once again been spotted within the premises of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), sparking renewed concern among students and university authorities, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

According to university sources, the leopard was seen by students after sunset on campus, causing fear and anxiety among those residing in the university’s hostels.

This is the second such sighting in the past two months, as the same university campus had previously reported the presence of a leopard, prompting wildlife authorities to launch a rescue operation.

Following the earlier sighting, the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) had installed traps in an attempt to safely capture the animal.

However, despite ongoing efforts, the board has so far failed to rescue or trap the leopard.

The latest sighting has once again raised serious safety concerns, particularly among male and female students living in university hostels, many of whom remain worried due to the predator’s continued presence in or around the campus area.

In response, the university administration has issued an alert, warning students and staff to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary movement in vulnerable areas, especially during evening and nighttime hours.

University officials said the administration has formally informed both the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) about the fresh sighting.

A university spokesperson said that teams from the wildlife board have been provided with accommodation, food and transportation facilities on campus to support the ongoing rescue mission.

According to university authorities, the Wildlife Management Board has placed cages and nets at multiple locations across the campus, but the leopard has so far managed to evade capture and has not entered any of the traps.

With concern mounting after the repeated sightings, the university administration has also called an emergency meeting for tomorrow to review the situation.
