Several Afghan among 61 suspects arrested in Islamabad, Punjab search operations

As many as 61 suspicious persons including several Afghan nationals were taken into custody during search and combing operations carried out by intelligence agencies, Elite Force, Dolphin Force, and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Islamabad and different cities of Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

According to details, the detained suspects included several proclaimed offenders and eight illegal Afghan nationals.

As many as 408 personnel of law enforcement agencies (LAEs) participated in these operations. A joint team of Shahzad Town Police Station, Islamabad, and Civil Lines Police Station participated in these operations.

During the operations, various exit and entry points of residential areas, hotels, bazaars, and important locations were searched.

Law enforcement agencies also recovered arms and narcotics from the arrested persons during these operations.

The operations are being carried out under tenancy act and other relevant laws. Various motorcycles and cars were checked during the operations.

Officials said that 31 people were arrested from Rawalpindi, out of which 20 were living without a rent agreement, seven without police verification, and two were targeted offenders.

The LAEs also recovered 1610 grams of hashish and one 30 bore pistol from their possession.

Officials further revealed that three proclaimed offenders were arrested from Murree. They said that these operations would continue till the complete elimination of illegal Afghans and criminals.
