Mohsin Naqvi pays surprise visit to Lahore airport
Interior minister orders speeding up immigration process
Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain on Sunday paid a surprise visit to Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport and inspected the immigration process, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The rush of people at the immigration counter angered Naqvi, who ordered speeding up the process.
Both ministers talked to the passengers going overseas and inquired about the immigration process.
Naqvi, on the occasion, patted on the back of the immigration staffers who stopped a passenger going abroad without necessary travel documents allegedly in connivance with the FIA employees and gave them cash from his pocket.
He also announced certificates of commendation for them.
He ordered that nobody should be allowed to travel sans documents.
The minister made it clear that illegal immigration would not be tolerated. “Any passenger going abroad illegally will not be allowed to board the plane,” Naqvi said, adding that action would also be taken against the FIA employees facilitating such passengers.
