Pakistan sweep ODI series with 6-wicket victory in third and final match

Pakistan completed a clean sweep over Sri Lanka by securing a comfortable six-wicket victory in the third and final One-Day International in Rawalpindi on Monday.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bowl first and restricted the visitors to 211 runs.

The Sri Lankan innings folded in the 46th over.

Chasing a target of 212, Pakistan reached the finish line with ease, losing just four wickets.

Haseebullah Khan was dismissed for a duck, but Fakhar Zaman counterattacked with an impressive 55 runs off 45 balls.

The hero of the second ODI, Babar Azam, scored 34 before being dismissed.

From Sri Lanka’s side, Jeffrey Vandersay claimed 3 wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana took one.

Fakhar Zaman scored 55, while Mohammad Rizwan anchored the chase with an unbeaten 61.

Hussain Talat also played a valuable knock of 43 not out to steer Pakistan home.

Earlier, Pakistan had won the opening ODI by 6 runs and the second match by 8 wickets, sealing a commanding 3–0 series triumph.

Sri Lanka have set Pakistan a target of 212 runs to win the third and final ODI of the series being played in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Sadeera Samarawickrama top-scored with 48 runs, while Kusal Mendis made 34, Kamindu Mendis added 29, and Pawan Rathnayake contributed 32.

Pakistan’s bowling attack remained dominant, with Mohammad Wasim Jr. picking up 3 wickets.

Haris Rauf and left-arm spinner Faisal Akram claimed two wickets each.

 Sri Lanka lost their first wicket at 55 when Pathum Nissanka was bowled by Haris Rauf after scoring 24 runs.

At 69, Mohammad Wasim dismissed Kamil Mishara caught behind by wicketkeeper Haseebullah.

Wasim then bowled the stand-in captain for 34 to claim his second wicket.

 Pakistan’s bowlers performed impressively. Mohammad Wasim Jr claimed 3 wickets, while Haris Rauf and Faisal Akram picked up 2 wickets each.

Pakistan made four changes for the match. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, Faheem Ashraf, Faisal Akram, and wicketkeeper Haseebullah were included in the playing XI, while Saim Ayub, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, and Abrar Ahmed were rested.

Sri Lanka also made four changes to their lineup.

With regular captain Charith Asalanka unwell, Kusal Mendis is leading the side.

Pakistan already hold an unassailable 0-2 lead in the three-match series.

The Green Shirts won the first ODI by 5 runs and the second by 8 wickets—powered by a brilliant unbeaten century from Babar Azam.

Today’s match allows Pakistan to complete a clean sweep.
