Putin, Netanyahu discuss Gaza as Israeli settlers assault mosque in West Bank
Israeli forces conduct raids across West Bank as mosque is vandalised and set ablaze by settlers: Putin and Netanyahu hold phone talks on Gaza, regional tensions and Iran’s nuclear programme
Israeli settlers attacked a mosque in the occupied West Bank, vandalising the building, setting parts of it on fire and scrawling racist slogans on its walls, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the channel report, Israeli forces later detained 15 Palestinians in raids across the area.
The assault comes amid ongoing violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, with Israeli military operations and actions by illegal settlers continuing across the West Bank despite international calls for restraint.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East, including developments in Gaza, as well as Iran’s nuclear programme.
