In comparison to the incumbent year, the FBR received only 500,000 returns till October 15, 2020, and the tax paid with them was Rs9.8 billion.
Thus, the receipts and taxes have increased five times this year as compared to the previous year.
According to the spokesperson, the FBR has reached close to Rs3 million returns received on June 30, 2021, and Rs54.7 billion in taxes paid.
He said that a promotional campaign to file tax returns also helped in enhancing the tax amount received.
For the first time, FBR through cellular companies has also sent SMS to their 128.6 million consumers as reminder messages for filing tax returns.
