MoU signed for converting 47 Punjab colleges to solar power

Punjab Energy Department and the Education Department have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for converting 47 colleges of the province including Lahore to solar power, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.  

In this regard, not less than Rs329 million rupees will be spent on 47 colleges.

The MoU ceremony was held at the Government Graduate College, Cooper Road Lahore.

DPI Colleges Dr. Syed Ansar Azhar, Director Colleges Ahsan Mukhtar, Focal Person Energy Department Waqas Ali, Principal College Fauzia Naz, Directors, Deputy Directors and Principals of various districts participated the occasion.

According to the initial agreement, the Energy Department has to convert 355 colleges of the province to solar power and the project will cost Rs3 billion.

The project will be completed in a period of three years.

The Education Department is expected to save Rs1.34 billion annually from the project.
