PTI approved 467,000 new gas connections despite energy crisis

Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) government has added 467,000 new gas consumers in a year despite the energy crisis, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel Friday.  

According to the annual report 2020-21 released by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), as many as 35409 new gas connections were issued in the financial year 2020-21 for the Punjab province. Around 77152 new gas consumers were added in Sindh, 66209 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 18284 connections were issued for Balochistan. The report further stated that 421 new villages were connected to the gas network during the said year.  

Oil companies built 95,379 metric tons of additional oil storage and 45360 metric tons of diesel storage in the country, the report added.

A storage capacity of 5019 metric tons of petrol has been constructed in the country in the financial year.

OGRA redressed 8272 complaints in a year while it provided relief worth Rs 118.3 million to gas consumers.

For the first time, 5 licenses were issued for the LPG Road Bowsers, the report concluded.
