Zubair Umar calls for Imran Khan’s release, fresh general elections

Former Sindh governor Zubair Umar has called for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, adding that all cases against Imran Khan are fake which should be abolished once for all. 

Talking to media, Zubair Umar said the existing system had collapsed and the coalition government had failed to run the country effectively. He alleged that the economy had weakened significantly with millions of Pakistanis pushed into poverty and questioned the progress of the Special Investment Facilitation Councilasking where the promised foreign investment had gone.

PML-N former leader said that Mohsin Naqvi himself had admitted that system has collapsed and cosmetic measures do not constitute development.

 “Pakistan is not a laboratory; let the country be run according to the Constitution,” Umar said. He claimed that the government has adopted all tactic against the Opposition and exercising complete control over the system but the authorities still failed to resolve the country’s problems.

Umar further alleged that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif could not speak against Mohsin Naqvi because they were afraid of him.

Umar also criticised the debate over creating new provinces alleging that the move was being used to prevent fresh elections. He said constitutional changes should only be made by those with the necessary public mandate.
