Sheikh Rasheed showers praise on PM Imran’s Senate poll plan

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said on Thursday that rigging will end with the show of hands polling in the Senate elections and the credit will go to Prime Minister Imran Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
“If Supreme Court of Pakistan gives a verdict for show of hands polling then it will be historic. In the last elections, there were 64 Senators but on the polling day 50 showed up. One wonders, how that happened,” Sheikh Rasheed said.
He said Islamabad Police has no spokesperson so Haroon Joya is being appointed as spokesperson. Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have financial problems as not much amount is being spent on the police. He claimed that the crime rate has been reduced by 30 percent in capital Islamabad.
Sheikh Rasheed arrived at the Police Line Headquarters, Islamabad. He laid floral wreath at the memorial of martyrs and offered fateha for the martyrs. Islamabad IG Amir Zulfiqar Khan briefed the Interior Minister while Home Secretary Yousuf Naseem Khokhar was also present in the briefing.
Talking to media persons, Sheikh Rasheed said there will be no checkposts or pickets in Islamabad except Margalla, Serena and Marriott.
He said Islamabad Police were facing numerous financial issues, and that least was spent on police in Pakistan. He said he would request Prime Minister Imran Khan to announce raise in salaries of police personnel.
He said that he would visit NADRA’s office on Friday. He said that the prime minister would attend passing out ceremony of police personnel this month.
Rasheed further said that 20 percent decrease in crime rate had been noticed in the capital city.
