Pakistan posts $100m current account surplus in November: State Bank
Pakistan recorded a current account surplus of $100 million in November 2025, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The surplus comes after a current account deficit of $291 million recorded in October 2025. Economists attributed the improvement mainly to a reduction in the trade deficit during the month.
SBP data showed that the trade deficit narrowed to $2.45 billion in November, compared to $2.75 billion in October. Experts said the easing of the trade gap played a key role in pushing the current account into surplus.
Workers’ remittances stood at $3.19 billion in November, down from $3.42 billion recorded in October, the central bank said.
On a cumulative basis, Pakistan posted a current account deficit of $812 million during the first five months of the current fiscal year. Despite the recent surplus, experts expect the current account balance to remain in deficit, estimating it at around $2.90 billion by the end of the ongoing fiscal year.
