Salim Khan, father of Salman Khan, hospitalised amid health scare

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, 90, has been hospitalised in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after complaining of swelling, prompting his superstar son Salman Khan to pause shooting and rush to be by his side, according to Times of India and other reports.

Salim Khan, one of the most influential figures in Hindi cinema was admitted earlier Tuesday and is currently being monitored in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The family has so far not released an official medical statement, and details on his condition remain limited, but his hospitalization has triggered an outpouring of concern from fans and colleagues across the film industry.

Reports suggest Salim Khan was taken to the hospital after complaints of swelling, which led attending doctors to place him under close supervision.

Born in 1935, Salim Khan’s early career began in front of the camera with small acting roles, but his real impact came when he partnered with Javed Akhtar to form the legendary screenwriting duo Salim Javed in the late 1960s.

Together, they wrote some of the most iconic films in Bollywood history, including Zanjeer, Deewar, Sholay and Don. Their work played a key role in shaping mainstream Hindi cinema and defining the angry young man era, especially through roles played by actors like Amitabh Bachchan.
