Govt to provide health cards to Kashmiris by end of year, says PM

July 17, 2021 09:10 PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the PTI government will provide health insurance cards to all Kashmiris by the end of the year, reported 24News HD TV channel on Saturday.

Addressing a public gathering in connection with the AJK election campaign in Bagh, the PM said, “We have given health cards to all citizens in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and now we are doing the same in Punjab.” The PM said a poor family sells everything for treatment but free treatment can be provided from any hospital with a health card started by the PTI government.

He said his party was striving to make the country a welfare state. He said the political leaders who have assets abroad "could never take a stand" for the people of Kashmir, adding that if he had assets abroad, then even he would have not been able to say "absolutely not" to the United States.

The PM reiterated that the Opposition parties were rallying against the government and threatening to overthrow it only to get concessions under the NRO with the aim to keep the previous system intact, in which the laws were different for the rich.

"I meet a lot of Kashmiris abroad, especially in Britain. You can ask them whether a corrupt person in that country asks for an NRO. No prosperous nation has different laws for the rich and the poor," he said.

Khan said what the PTI-led government was doing for the rule of law could be termed "jihad".

The PM said, “Those nations were destroyed who had no regard for rule of law or who had different rules for the rich and the poor.”

The PM said his government was trying to bring power under the rule of law.

He said past governments had never tried to make the country self-reliant, but the Pakistan of tomorrow would provide loans to poorer countries and refuse to take aid. "The good time is just ahead," he said.

He further said Pakistan and Kashmir's relationship was based on Islamic principles. Nations are always built on ideologies. "Pakistan was based on Allama Iqbal and Mohammad Ali Jinnah's vision — and I want Kashmiris to be free so that they can live their lives in line with the Islamic ideology."

The PM said the PTI-led government had started a new scheme of providing cheap loans to salaried people, adding that the interest-free loans would be provided to families who were extremely poor, so they can buy necessary things, including bikes, fertilizers, etc.
