Recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan linked with Afghan situation: ISPR DG

Pakistan Armed Forces Spokesperson Major General Babar Iftikhar said that recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan are linked with the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan is closely monitoring the situation in the region, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He said such incidents show the desperation of terrorists.
The Inter Services Public relations ISPR DG reiterated, “We are not the guarantors of the Afghan Peace Process and Pakistan is committed to peace in Afghanistan. Afghanistan’s own stakeholders have to decide their future.”
ISPR DG said that there was no organized terrorist network in Pakistan.
ISPR DG Babar Iftikhar said, “We have fought a long War on Terror. Pakistan has completed the installation of a security fence on the Pak-Afghan border.”
“Since May 1, 167 incidents took place and over 7000 Intelligence-based Operations, cordon and search operations and area operations have been conducted since May 1 2021. 42 terrorists were killed during the 7,500 operations and confiscated 400-ton explosive material,” he explained.
Talking to a private media channel, ISPR DG said that there are fears of spillover effect of Afghanistan situation on Pakistan.
“Pakistan will not allow anyone to use our territory against any country. India used all terrorist factions including TTP against Pakistan,” Major Gen Baba Iftikhar said.
He said that Pakistan has sealed the illegal border crossings which were earlier used to spread unrest in Pakistan.
He said regular troops are manning crossings along with Pak - Afghanistan Border and all illegal crossing points are sealed. He said modern biometric system has also been deployed at the border crossings.
He said peace in Pakistan is linked with peace in Afghanistan.
