Historic LG system being brought in, says Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has highlighted the importance of transfer of power to grassroots.
The most successful local government system in country’s history is being introduced under which Zila Council will have direct access to finances, he told the media in Karachi on Wednesday.
The PTI government will hold direct elections in all tehsils, the premier said, stressing the need for publicising all government’s decisions.
He said budgets are made after getting loans and such a deficit adds to difficulties a state gets though to survive. The National Finance Commission (NFC) has a flaw, Imran said adding that the rulers undid the measures adopted to empower the masses in 2008.
About the locusts attack, PM Iman said India and Iran are in contact over the issue. The genesis of this insect belongs to Africa, the PM said, adding that like Covid-19 spread, locusts attack is being politicised. He also shared the sufferings of day labourers because of lockdown.
Last week, PM Imran got briefing on preparation for LG polls in Punjab and showed satisfactions at measures being adopted for the purpose. He called for gearing up efforts to activate local government system to provide people with relief on their doorstep.
