PM Imran says EVMs only option to stem rigging, ensure fair elections

Prime Minister Imran Khan has declared that the use of electronic voting machines are the only option to stem rigging and ensure a transparent election process, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The prime minister said this while attending a briefing about the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the elections.
The huddle was briefed in detail about the progress so far made regarding electoral reforms with specific reference to the use of EVMs and relevant law making.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz, Leader of the House in Senate Senator Dr Shahzad Wasim, Railways Minister Azam Swati, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib and Adviser to the PM Babar Awan.
While directing for ensuring a fair polling process and constitutional requirements, Imran Khan reiterated that the incumbent government was committed to pioneer transparency in the electoral process of the country.
The prime minister said that the EVMs are the only option to ensure fair voting and block rigging in the elections.
Imran Khan also declared that the overseas Pakistanis were an asset of the country and they would certainly be made a party of the electoral process.
He directed that all these initiatives should be completed at the earliest.
