Pakistan Army says it has made preparations for dealing with the possible spread of COVID-19 and labs have been established at all major military hospitals across the country for the testing virus.

As part of the national efforts and in line with the decisions of National Security Committee taken on 13 March, all medical facilities of the Armed Forces are operationalised and geared up to meet any eventuality to deal with the pandemic, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a press release.

It said that a central testing lab has been set up at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Rawalpindi.

COVID-19 help desks have been set up at each military hospital for fast track handling of suspected cases of infections, it added.

ISPR said Armed Forces of Pakistan are fully involved in assisting the government and provincial administrations to tackle the situation since the outbreak and duly vigilant of the developing situation.

The army chief has directed all Commanders to take maximum necessary measures to assist civil administration for safety and wellbeing of the people, the statement read.
