Ayesha Omar cheers Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s slam on Bollywood’s fake stories
Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar has voiced her support for Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s critique of Bollywood, applauding the actor’s call for honesty and authenticity in films.
During a public appearance at NDTV Creators' Manch Season 2, Nawazuddin Siddiqui criticized the current state of Hindi cinema, stating, “‘Bollywood men jhooti filmain ban rahi hain, sachai sab jantay hain,’” which translates to, “Fake films are being made in Bollywood, everyone knows the truth.”
Siddiqui argued that filmmakers have a responsibility to present honest narratives rather than misleading the public for commercial gain.
He stressed that modern audiences are well-informed and can easily distinguish between reality and fabricated or “propaganda” content.
According to him, prioritizing “jhoothi” fake stories over meaningful storytelling diminishes the impact and credibility of cinema.
Sharing his statement on social media, Ayesha Omar endorsed his perspective, commenting, “We all know the truth now,” signaling her agreement with the call for realism and transparency in film narratives.
Siddiqui’s remarks have drawn comparisons to veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who recently criticized Bollywood for a lack of originality, even suggesting that “Korean films are 100 times better than Indian films.”
Both voices highlight a growing conversation in the industry about authenticity, creativity, and the social responsibility of filmmakers.
