Dar chairs meeting on petroleum supplies, orders strict monitoring

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting on the petroleum supply situation in Pakistan, directing the authorities to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply and maintain strict oversight of the system.

During the meeting, the deputy prime minister expressed satisfaction at the current fuel reserves and the overall supply situation across Pakistan. However, he emphasised the need for continued vigilance to avoid any disruption.

Dar instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products nationwide, stressing that any gaps in supply could adversely affect the public and the economy. He ordered strict monitoring of the supply chain to prevent hoarding, artificial shortages or price manipulation.

Highlighting the importance of safeguarding public interests, the deputy prime minister directed the authorities to take all necessary measures to protect consumers from undue hardship. He specifically tasked the Ministry of Petroleum with keeping a close watch on market trends and ensuring transparency in pricing and distribution.

Dar called for enhanced coordination among relevant departments and stakeholders to maintain a stable and consistent fuel supply across the country.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers and senior officials, who reviewed the current situation and discussed strategies to strengthen the petroleum supply chain. Officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining adequate reserves and ensuring smooth distribution, in line with the government’s policy of providing relief and stability to consumers.
