The Lahore High Court has commended Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi’s anti-smog efforts in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

LHC Justice Shahid Karim on Friday heard petitions against rising smog in Lahore.

During the proceedings, the judge eulogized the anti-smog efforts taken by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to improve air quality in the province.

The court ordered to close all public and private educational institutions on Saturdays and Sundays for three months.

And for offices, the court ordered a two-day-work-from-home-in-a-week policy.

The court remarked that the environment department is responsible for the spread of smog in the province.

Members of the Environment Commission including Syed Kamal Haider, Hina Hafeez, and officers of LDA, PHA, Traffic, and other departments appeared in the court.

Deputy Attorney General Asad Ali Bajwa appeared on behalf of the Federal Government.

An environment commission member contended that the law under which the notification of holiday has been issued is not relevant.
