Production by major industries up by 4.44pc in first 2 months of current fiscal year

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Friday released a report on production by major industries.

According to the report, production by major industries increased by 4.44 percent in the first 2 months of the current financial year. Production by major industries decreased by 2.75 percent on a monthly basis in August 2025. Production by major industries increased by 0.54 percent in August 2025 compared to August 2024, says the report.

Production of vehicles increased by 90.4 percent in the first 2 months of the financial year. Production of transport equipment increased by 44.47 percent in July and August. Production by food group increased by 7.77 percent in two months.

Tobacco production increased by 11.06 percent and apparel production by 4.92 percent in July and August. Production of leather increased by 2 percent, paperboard by 8.41 percent and rubber products by 8.41 24.90 percent.

Production of machinery and equipment fell by 33.84 percent in July and August. Furniture production fell by 10.84 percent in two months. In the same period, production of chemical products fell by 5.14 and iron and steel production fell by 3.44 percent.
